Information Sent Directly
Search entries
When a visitor types a name or place into a search box, the query is sent to the third-party provider operating that tool. Madison County Busted Mugshots does not store or maintain a separate log of those search terms on its own pages.
Messages and requests
An email or contact message may include a name, return address, record question, or other details the sender chooses to provide. That information is kept long enough to read and answer the message. It is not shared outside the operating organization unless disclosure is required by law or needed to address a security or abuse issue.
Technical Details Collected Automatically
Web servers and analytics tools can receive ordinary technical information when a page loads:
- IP address or a similar network identifier.
- Browser type and version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages visited and the time spent on them.
- The referring page, when a browser supplies it.
- Time and date stamps for requests.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages, remember settings, or support a feature. Browser controls can block or delete cookies. Some functions may behave differently when those files are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Information may be used to keep the service working, understand which resources are useful, and respond to a person who writes in. It may also help:
- Keep pages stable, secure, and reasonably fast.
- Send a search request to the provider that operates the search box.
- Measure page use and find broken links or technical faults.
- Improve the wording and organization of county resources.
- Display advertising that may be related to a visitor's interests.
Links to Other Services
The pages link to sheriff, police, jail, court, state, federal, news, and outside search resources. Once a visitor follows one of those links, the destination's own privacy notice and terms govern its collection and use of information. Madison County Busted Mugshots does not control another service's security, retention, uptime, or data practices.
Advertising partners may use their own tools to measure activity across different sites or to deliver interest-based ads. Those tools operate on the partner's systems and are governed by the partner's disclosures.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold as a standalone product by Madison County Busted Mugshots. Information may still reach the following groups when a visitor uses a feature or when the law requires it:
- The search partner that processes a submitted query.
- Analytics and measurement providers.
- Advertising networks or vendors supporting advertisements.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order.
Security Is a Best Effort
Reasonable technical and administrative measures are used to protect information under the operator's control. No internet-connected service is fully secure, however, and no promise is made that a system will never suffer a breach, error, or unauthorized access.
Visitors Under Eighteen
The service is intended for adults. Madison County Busted Mugshots does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a minor has sent information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact Us route to request review and deletion.
Available Data Choices
Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity checks, a person may ask about information held in connection with a direct message or contact interaction. Available requests may include:
- A copy of personal information held by the operator.
- Correction of inaccurate contact details.
- Deletion of information that no longer needs to be retained.
- An objection or opt-out from certain processing where that choice is available.
Send a request through Contact Us. A request sent to a sheriff, court, or search partner must be directed to that separate custodian.
Policy Changes
This policy may be revised when the service, vendors, legal requirements, or data practices change. The newest version will be posted here, and the updated text will apply after it is published.
